ST. PAUL, Minn.—The Catholic archbishop of the St. Paul-Minneapolis Archdiocese will lead a Good Friday prayer vigil outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in St. Paul.
Archbishop John Nienstedt plans to lead the crowd in a rosary Friday at 8 a.m. The Good Friday prayer service at the clinic in St. Paul’s Highland Park clinic has been a tradition among anti-abortion protesters for a number of years.
Bishop Lee Piche of the Winona Diocese will take over from Nienstedt at 9 a.m. and a rotating group of priests will take turns throughout the day.
The Highland Park Planned Parenthood Clinic is scheduled to close permanently later in 2011 when the organization moves to a new headquarters in another part of St. Paul.
