BOCA RATON, Fla.—Irina Falconi and Tim Smyczek will compete in the French Open after winning wild-card spots on Friday.
Falconi of Atlanta and Smyczek of Milwaukee earned the spots in the main draw after winning the USTA French Open wild card playoffs.
The 20-year-old Falconi beat Julia Boserup of Newport Beach, Calif., 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3, while 23-year-old Smyczek beat Donald Young of Atlanta 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3, 6-2.
Falconi will be making her third consecutive appearance in a Grand Slam main draw, and Smyczek his second.
