With temperatures expected to dip below zero this week, the Salvation Army said Sunday that its seven Twin Cities service centers will be open to the public during as warming shelters during business hours.
Anyone who needs a respite from the chilly outdoor air is invited to “stop by during the day to warm up and enjoy a hot beverage,” the organization said in a news release.
Two of the service centers are in St. Paul — one at 1019 Payne Ave. and the other at 401 W. 7th St. — while a third is in Maplewood at 2080 Woodlynn Ave. The others are at 2024 Lyndale Ave., 1604 E. Lake St., and 2727 Central Ave. in Minneapolis, and 10011 Noble Parkway in Brooklyn Park.
The Salvation Army also said its Harbor Light emergency shelter will have an additional 40 beds available during the months of January and February, as well as any “any other night when windchills are expected to approach zero degrees or lower.”
