Middle East
- On 8 November, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) published a position paper “Implications of Establishing a Separate Local Authority for the Neighbourhoods beyond the Barrier in Jerusalem”, examining the proposal to remove large Palestinian neighbourhoods beyond the Wall from the jurisdiction of the Jerusalem Municipality, and to establish a new Israeli local council there.
- According to a report co-authored by Addameer, the Israeli authorities arrested in October 483 Palestinians including 125 minors and eight women. In an Urgent Action “Hunger Strikers at Risk of Permanent Health Complications” released on 7 November, the organization called for the release of Palestinians held under administrative detention orders and asked supporters to raise the matter with Members of the European Parliament.
- On 5 November, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) published the conclusions and recommendations of a round table on “The Future of Media Freedoms in light of National Reconciliation”.
North America
- From 1 to 3 December, Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA) are organizing a conference “Challenging Oppression: Working for Justice from Palestine to USA” in Santa Rosa and San Francisco, California.
- FOSNA is calling on citizens to urge Members of the U.S. Congress to reject anti-BDS legislation as an infringement on the right to freedom of speech.
- On 13 November, the Center for Palestine Studies at Columbia University is hosting Italian journalist Paola Caridi for a talk on her new book “Jerusalem without God: Portrait of a Cruel City”.
United Nations
- Michael Lynk, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967, will brief on 15 November the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People at UN Headquarters in New York.
