Jim Toth
Born in 1970, Toth grew up in a small steel town in rural Pennsylvania after his father immigrated from Hungary. He graduated with a degree in political science from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles before starting his career working in the mailroom of Creative Artists Agency. In September 2010, he was promoted to top talent scout of motion picture talent at the organization, which manages stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep and Lady Gaga.
Toth met Reese Witherspoon in March 2010 and the pair announced their engagement less than one year later. They tied the knot in March 2011 during a ceremony in Ojai, California, and welcomed son Tennessee in September 2012. In April 2013, he and the Legally Blonde star were pulled over in Atlanta after being pulled over by police for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Toth was later charged with a DUI while Witherspoon, for her part, was arrested for disorderly conduct. (The duo were released from custody shortly after paying fines.)
After more than a decade of marriage, the couple announced their split in March 2023.
Toth supports the Stand Up To Cancer initiative and in 2019, he established the Jim Toth Sr. Breakthrough Lung Cancer Research Award in memory of his father who died of cancer.
