About
Rooney Mara gained recognition for her supporting role in The Social Network (2010). She had her big break in 2011 as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, earning an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Mara went on to star in Side Effects (2013), Her (2013) and Carol (2015), with the latter earning her the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress and an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She also appeared in Lion (2016), Mary Magdalene (2018) and Women Talking (2022).
Mara started dating fellow actor Joaquin Phoenix in 2016, and they announced their engagement in 2019. The couple welcomed their first child, River, in August 2020. News broke in February 2024 that she was pregnant with the pair’s second baby.
