Shania Twain
The country superstar is best known for her massively successful third album Come On Over and its follow-up disc, Up!, which smashed worldwide sales records, selling a whopping 34 million copies.
Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada in 1965, Twain (real name: Eilleen Regina Edwards) had a tough childhood and was raised in poverty. While singing in bars for money, she eventually earned her first record deal in 1993 and released Shania Twain, followed by 1995’s The Woman in Me. But it wasn’t until the release of Come on Over in 1997 that things really blew up for Twain, and she is now regarded as one of the most successful country music stars.
The star split from her husband of 14 years, Robert “Mutt” Lange in May 2008 after he had an affair with her best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who served as the secretary at the couple’s chateau in Switzerland.
In summer 2009, Twain debuted her relationship with her secretary’s ex-husband, Frederic Thiebaud, whom Twain calls “a dear friend and true gentleman.” The couple tied the knot January 1, 2011 in Puerto Rico.
Twain and Lange have a son, Eja, born in 2001.
