Under pressure. Claire Holt opened up on her fears about giving birth for a second time and how her previous miscarriage has affected her mental health.
The Originals alum, 32, showed off her growing baby bump via Instagram on Saturday, August 15, and detailed her feelings about welcoming her daughter soon.
“35 WEEKS. I’m excited to meet this little girl but I’m SO anxious about losing it again,” Holt wrote. “The recovery, sleep deprivation, feedings, 2 kids 17 months apart, a pandemic… It’s a lot. I know how lucky I am and I know each stage is temporary, but I’m still feeling stressed about how I’ll cope mentally.”
The Vampire Diaries alum added that she still faces struggles even though she has a support system and asked her fans for advice.
“I think it’s important to share that I have always had help,” Holt continued. “I never want to pretend that I do it on my own (I am completely in awe of women who do). That being said, I still felt overwhelmed, embarrassed/guilty that I was struggling, and not at all like myself after I gave birth. Did anyone have a totally different postpartum experience the second time? Tips?”
The Australia native announced in April that she and her husband, Andrew Joblon, are expecting their second child. They are also the parents of 16-month-old son James.
“Grateful for this little ray sunshine in an uncertain time,” Holt wrote via Instagram at the time.
The 47 Meters Down star revealed in March 2018 that she had suffered a miscarriage. Holt told Us Weekly in February 2019 that the experience had a positive effect on her relationship with Joblon, 37.
“Obviously what we went through was tragic, but it brought us so much closer together,” she said at the time. “And I think it’s difficult to say this because I would have loved to have had the baby and have the pregnancy work out … but I wouldn’t change it because I learned so much, and it really strengthened our relationship.”
