It's all good with Alexa! Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley's daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, told Us Weekly for the UN Foundation's Girl Up PromGirl campaign in NYC on Wednesday, April 16, that she's "fine" after collapsing onstage last weekend.
"Yeah, I tend to faint. It's really scary," 28-year-old Joel told Us while laughing. "You know, I was working nonstop for the past 3 weeks, basically every day."
"I'm not complaining," she added. "It's good to work hard, but it takes a toll on your body. I'm 5'2" and singing is a physical activity and I was tired by that show. I was freaking exhausted, but you know [but[ the show must go on."
Joel knew "something was wrong" the morning of her fainting episode, "but I just had to go on stage," she added. "Hey, it happened." Laughing, she quipped, "I'm great, I'm fine, I'm standing!"
To unwind, Joel told Us she pampers herself in peace. "I like to light candles," she said. "And I do a bubble bath. I've written songs in the bath. It's very peaceful."
As previously reported, Joel collapsed during her final concert at Cafe Carlyle in NYC on Saturday, April 13, and was rushed to the emergency room. There, doctors diagnosed her with vasovagal syncope, which is one of the most common causes of fainting.
"My mother was there," she said of supermodel Brinkley, who's been mega-supportive of Alexa's singing career. "I mean, I wanted to end the show with a bang, so hey, I went out with a bang!" Joel continued, while laughing. "All good."
