Even the all-knowing Gossip Girl couldn't have seen this one coming.
Lovebirds Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds tied the knot in a surprise, ultra-private ceremony at at Boone Hill Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina Sunday, a source confirms to Us Weekly.
The couple, for the most part, managed to keep their plans under wraps until this weekend, when members of Lively's family were spotted around Charleston. Her close pal — and favorite shoe designer — Christian Louboutin also happened to be in the Southern city. "Spotted: @LouboutinWorld in Charleston! Welcomes to the city!" a user by the name of @TheJoshRatliff wrote. (Lively, for her part, told Marie Claire in June that the couture she's been exposed to in Hollywood has dramatically changed her wedding style plans. "What I planned before I got into the business has changed," she shared. "Now I'm like, 'Hmm, I wonder what shoes Christian [Louboutin] is going to make me. And which couture houses should I go to?") Reynolds and Lively have also traveled back and forth to Charleston several times this past year, adding to speculation that it might be a potential wedding spot.
Though they've only been together a year — they met while filming 2011's The Green Lantern — Lively, 25, and Reynolds, 35, got serious quickly. When they first took their friendship to the next level in Fall 2011, the couple began splitting their weekends between NYC, where Lively was filming Gossip Girl, and Boston, where Reynolds was busy shooting R.I.P.D.
Just six months into their romance, the duo began house hunting together, and ended up purchasing a property in Westchester County, just north of New York City.
"They love getting out of the city and appreciate a slower pace [of life]," a source told Us Weekly at the time of the low-key couple's decision to relocate.
This would be the first marriage for Lively, who previously dated Gossip Girl costar Penn Badgley and Leonardo DiCaprio, and the second for Reynolds, who was engaged to Alanis Morissette from 2004-2007 (they never made it down the aisle) and whose divorce from Scarlett Johansson was finalized in July 2011.
