The Stafford family’s maiden voyage to see the “Eras Tour” was eventful from start to finish.
Kelly and Matthew Stafford took their four daughters — twins Sawyer and Chandler, 7, Hunter, 6 and Tyler, 4 — to see Taylor Swift in concert in New Orleans last weekend, which came as a surprise to the girls.
“They had no idea,” Kelly said on “The Morning After” podcast Thursday, October 31. “They did not find out until they got on the plane. We did fly private. I went early and I decorated the plane. I decked it out. We had Taylor Swift music blasting when they got on. They had their outfits.”
The family was escorted to the “friends and family section” inside the Caesars Superdome, where Kelly was welcomed by “the loudest screaming and pitch I have ever heard in my life.”
“Matthew said the same thing,” Kelly said of her husband, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. “He said, ‘I’ve never heard a stadium this loud and I’ve played in a lot of loud stadiums.’”
Given their VIP status, the Staffords were surrounded by a bunch of very familiar faces, including Taylor’s father, Scott Swift.
“Matthew talked to the Dad for a bit,” Kelly said. “He was very, very kind.”
Josh Hutcherson — or “Peeta from Hunger Games,” as Kelly referred to him — was also rubbing elbows with the Staffords at the concert.
“He’s a good-looking guy and very, very nice,” Kelly gushed. “Him and Matthew kind of hit it off because [Josh] was watching the Dodgers game in the World Series, as well as watching Taylor.”
Kelly added, “They were kind of checking in with each other dude-to-dude.”
The biggest stars at the show, with all due respect to Scott and Josh, were Taylor’s good friends and frequent “Eras Tour” attendees Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
“We were all in the same area together,” Kelly said. “Matthew spoke with them more. I was very, honestly, just [watching] with my girls. I was very into the concert.”
Despite having four kids, just like the Staffords, Kelly was not interested in making parenting small talk with Blake, 37, and Ryan, 48.
“They had seen that concert multiple times,” Kelly said of the duo. “I had not. I’m so sorry, I’m not going to take my time chit-chatting when there’s a concert going on I haven’t seen that I like! I’m so sorry!”
While she might not have made any lifelong friendships, Kelly ultimately left the show in awe of Taylor’s showmanship and stamina.
“I don’t know how she does it,” Kelly marveled. “There is no intermission to this show. Even her dancers get a break. She gets no break.”
She added, “It was something I’ll never forget.”
