10 Things Us Didn’t Expect to Learn From ‘Spare’: Prince Harry’s Penis Confessions and More

While it's not a shock that Prince Harry didn't hold back when it came to his relationships with Prince William, King Charles III and other members of the royal family in his book, Spare, some of his other confessions made Us do a double take. Us Weekly obtained a copy of Harry’s memoir, in which he reflects on being the “spare” to William’s “heir” to the throne, details the loss of their mother, Princess Diana, recalls meeting and falling in love with Meghan Markle and everything that led to their decision to stop working for the royal family. Throughout the 416 pages, Harry details several arguments with William over the years, including a tense fight about the younger prince asking Queen Elizabeth II to keep his beard for his 2018 wedding and a 2019 altercation that got physical after the Prince of Wales called the Suits alum “rude,” “difficult" and "abrasive.” Harry also shares his and Meghan’s side of her various struggles with Princess Kate, including the Duchess of Cambridge allegedly confronting the former actress for a comment about Kate’s “baby brain” in 2018 and a now-infamous story about the two women arguing over dresses and a party for the page boys. “I arrived home and found Meg on the floor. Sobbing,” Harry wrote about the 2018 fight days before their nuptials. “I was horrified to see [Meghan] so upset, but I didn’t think it was a catastrophe. … Indeed the next morning Kate came by with flowers and a card that said she was sorry.” [sendtonews type="float" key="wtv7MMZwga-2828914-14453"] As the allegations continue to make headlines, a source told Us Weekly that William and Kate “wished Harry wasn’t so public and cutting” about their past issues. “[They are] very upset about Harry’s revelations,” the insider said. “It’s hit them very hard. They’re both confiding in each other right now.” No member of the royal family has publicly commented on Spare. The Duke of Sussex dedicated the pages to “Meg” and their two children: Archie, born in 2019, and Lili, born in 2021. He added: “And, of course, my mother.” In the acknowledgments, he notably left out members of his family but thanked famous friends including James Corden and Tyler Perry. Harry Calls William ‘Willy’

Throughout the 400+ page book, Harry strictly referred to his older brother as “Willy” and his father as “Pa.”

Harry’s Frostbitten Penis

The prince revealed “todger” was frostbitten following an expedition to the North Pole in March 2011. He recalled telling the story the night before William’s wedding.

“Pa was very interested, and sympathetic about the discomfort of my frostnipped ears and cheeks, and it was an effort not to overshare and tell him also about my equally tender penis. Upon arriving home I'd been horrified to discover that my nether regions were frostnipped as well, and while the ears and cheeks were already healing, the todger wasn’t,” he wrote. “It was becoming more of an issue by the day.”

Harry (and Willy) Are Circumcised

“There were countless stories in books, and papers (even The New York Times) about Willy and me not being circumcised. Mummy had forbidden it, they all said, and while it's absolutely true that the chance of getting penile frostbite is much greater if you're not circumcised, all the stories were false,” he wrote. “I was snipped as a baby.”

Willy and Kate Loved ‘Suits’

“Willy and Kate explained that they were regular — nay, religious — viewers of Suits,” Harry wrote about Meghan’s USA show, which she was still appearing in when she started dating the prince in 2016. “All this time I’d thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph.”

Harry Thinks He’s a ‘Chandler’

Harry described himself as a “Friends fanatic” and revealed he once partied with Courteney Cox thanks to a mutual friend. “She was Monica. And I was a Chandler,” he wrote, pondering whether there was “enough tequila in California” to confess he had a crush on the actress.

Harry Hallucinated a Toilet Was Talking to Him

After doing the mushrooms, Harry had hallucinations in Cox’s bathroom, recalling that he thanked the toilet when he threw out an empty packet of cigarettes from his pocket.

“Beside the toilet was a round silver bin, the kind with a foot pedal to open the lid. I stared at the bin. It stared back,” he wrote. “Then it became … a head.”

The former military pilot made a point to call out observing his brother’s “alarming baldness” while writing about Charles pleading with the siblings not to make his “final years a misery.” Harry added that Willy’s resemblance to their late mother, Princess Diana, was “fading with time.”

Kate Allegedly Didn’t Want to Share Lip Gloss With Meghan

Based on the book, the two couples had their fair share of petty moments, but the two duchesses disagreeing over whether to share a tube of lip gloss backstage at their Royal Foundation Forum appearance in 2018 might take the cake.

“Kate, taken aback, went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube,” he wrote about Meghan asking to borrow Kate’s beauty project. “Meg squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips. Kate grimaced.”

Harry Took Laughing Gas While Meghan Was in Labor

The Duke of Sussex wrote that Meghan “laughed and rolled her eyes” after he “took several slow, penetrating hits” of laughing gas when she was in labor with son Archie in 2019. He subsequently joined his wife as she bounced on a giant purple ball. When the nurse tried to administer the laughing gas to Meghan as her contractions continued, Harry wrote “there was none left” for the actress.
