Surprise! Rogue has returned with the rest of the X-Men gang, or so it seems. The first trailer of the fantasy film X-Men: Days of Future Past has been released, and it features Anna Paquin’s name, who initially was cut during its editing process.
In the clip, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is sent back in time by Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) to change history. His travels reunites him with Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and young Magneto (Michael Fassbender.)
As previously reported, director Bryan Singer initially told Entertainment Weekly back in December 2013 that Paquin, who appeared in the original X-Men trilogy films, wouldn’t be seen on the big screen.
“It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go,” Singer said at the time. “Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”
The comment may have seemed like a done deal, but low and behold, the True Blood star’s name appears in the latest trailer’s credits after all. The action adventure flick also costars Peter Dinklage, Evan Peters, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, and Shawn Ashmore.
X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters May 23, 2014.
