New kids on the block. The Real Housewives of New York City is getting a reboot with a cast of fresh faces for season 14, and Bravo finally confirmed the newcomers will make their debut on Sunday, July 16, at 9 p.m. ET.
The cast for RHONY season 14 — Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jessel Taank, Jenna Lyons and Brynn Whitfield — was announced at BravoCon in October 2022.
Some of the newbies are lifelong New Yorkers. De Silva, 41, is a Brooklyn resident and creative director of lifestyle company Scout the City. Lichy, 34, was raised in Manhattan and now lives in Tribeca as she runs her residential renovation and design firm, Homegirl.
Other new Housewives are newer to the Big Apple. Hassan, 35, is originally from Somalia, and the model made her way to Kenya and Canada before landing in New York. Taank, 31, is a fashion publicist and brand consultant of British-Indian descent.
Meanwhile, Whitfield, 36, was raised in a small midwestern town before hosting dinner parties in the West Village and making waves in the brand marketing field.
Born in Boston and raised in California, Lyons, 54, the former president of J. Crew (she left the company after 27 years in 2017), has lived in New York City for decades, hopping from Brooklyn to Tribeca to SoHo. She now serves as cofounder of the beauty brand LoveSeen.
One month after the cast announcement, matchmaker Lizzy Savetsky announced she was no longer filming the series.
“I will not be continuing on The Real Housewives of NYC,” she wrote in a statement on Instagram, explaining that as “a proud orthodox Jewish woman” she hoped being part of the series would be an opportunity to represent people of her faith. “Unfortunately, from the time of my announcement in the cast, I was on the receiving end of a torrent of antisemitic attacks. As this continued, I realized that this path was no longer right for me and my family.”
Prior to the announcement, producer Lisa Shannon weighed in on the new season during the Ultimate Girls Trip panel. “The future of the New York franchise is very bright,” Shannon said while on stage at BravoCon in New York City. “There is a new cast, you will be hearing about this new cast very soon. And they’re, like, sensational. I am so excited about that.”
The Real Housewives of New York season 13 featured OGs Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer alongside Leah McSweeney and Eboni K. Williams.
The same day Peacock confirmed RHONY alums Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Luann, Dorinda Medley, Sonja, Ramona and Kristen Taekman are set to star in season 5 of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy, Bravo dropped the trailer for season 14 of RHONY starring the new cast.
“I’m a little bit like Elizabeth Taylor, I just don’t actually go through with it,” Whitfield says in the teaser before she’s accused of flirting with a married man.
In a series of other clips, the cast is at odds with Lyons.
“Do you actually believe that I didn’t come with you because I didn’t want to fly in coach?” the former J.Crew creative director asks as Lichy fires back, “I do.”
Silva also tells Lyons: “We definitely talk s—t about you.”
