20 May ROME HOTEL HOTLIST | 5 MUST STAYS
Travel writer & Wander-lust’s guest editor Yvette Bax spent almost two months in Rome, and collected all the hotspots, must-visits and best places to eat and sleep.
For Wander-lust she listed her top five Luxury Hotels in Rome. What are you waiting for? Pack your bags and go!
Hotel de la Ville
Absolute favourite because it has one of the most beautiful rooftop terraces in all of Rome. The hotel is located at the top of the famous Spanish steps, so you have the first row view on one of the major touristic sights, and the views go as far as Vatican city. So basically you can see and enjoy all of Rome, without even having to leave your hotel. What more could you want? Oh yes, maybe some well decorated stylish rooms, with marble floors and huge bath tubs. They have those too. Via Sistina 69, roccofortehotels.com
An Italian cup of coffee with this view? Yes please!
Hotel de Russie
Hotel de Russie is located at the corner of Piazza del Popolo and is the extended backyard of the famous Villa Borghese park. This static pink mansion blends art deco with classical Roman style, and has a patio that is a peaceful oasis where the rich, famous and good looking gather to have their drinks, bites and aperitivo’s. Have dinner or lunch at their restaurant Le Jardin de Russie for some very fine dining and do try their tasty wines: salute! Via del Babuino 9, roccofortehotels.com
See Rome in two days, all the tips!
Nobildonne Relais
Want to sleep like a royal? Then you have found your perfect place. Nobildonne Relais is a hotel in a former Roman palace, built in the seventeenth century. Here you can get a real taste of the dolce vita of the good old days, with ceilings displaying the dazzling frescos and the floors of mosaic. Stay in one of the five very exclusive, unique baroque suites and find yourself traveling back in time. Via della Fontanella di Borghese 35, nobildonnerelais.com

Portrait Roma
Portrait Roma is a stylish hideaway in the heart of the fashion district and most high end shopping streets of Rome. It has a contemporary retro design and is located on the upper floors of a grand townhouse, offering fourteen different luxury suites to choose from. And my second favourite rooftop in the Eternal City; with an almost all round stunning view on the Spanish steps on one side, and Vatican city on the other side. The terrace is for hotel guests only, but… you can invite friends up for a private party or gathering, yay! Via Bocca di Leone 23, lungarnocollection.com
Palm Gallery Hotel
You’ll find The Palm Gallery Hotel – surrounded by palm trees, and palm trees to be found in the interior design indeed – in a historic yellow villa in the heart of Rome. Surrounded by sumptuous gardens, this trendy boutique hotel is an exotic, tranquil oasis. It’s very quiet and spacious, and the pool and the terrace are the best places to have a break from your sightseeing and relax. Must do: have a bubbly aperitivo in the outdoor jacuzzi!
