Garmin is making big changes to its Run Coach, which will integrate it more closely with Garmin watches
Garmin has rolled out changes to its coaching setup in a new beta release, which aims to make guided workouts smarter.
The changelog for v.20.15 states: “Integrates the Garmin Run Coach feature into Garmin Connect app.”
Until now, there have been two coaching options: Garmin Run Coach, offering set guided plans for 5K, 10K, and half-marathon distances, and Daily Suggested Workout, which suggests daily training sessions without long-term goals.

The issue was that Garmin Coach plans didn’t sync to the watch itself, so felt very separate to the day-to-day use of its sports watches.
Likewise, DSWs felt personal and reactive, but as they are generated on a weekly basis, never felt geared towards a race or event you might have coming in the months ahead. They’d ultimately build towards that goal, but weren’t part of a cohesive, progressive plan.

The new update to Garmin Coach, available on Fenix/Epix (18.10) and Forerunner (20.15) devices, now brings Garmin Coach workouts to the watch itself – and fixes most of those problems.
Coach workouts will now adapt based on training load, readiness, and sleep – and you can see your plan all the way up until Race Day.
Users need to set their goals in the Garmin Connect app, and then the experience is similar to Daily Suggested Workouts, which appear when starting a running workout on the watch.
The feature is still in beta right now, and users on Reddit are reporting some bugs. If you want to get your hands on it then you’ll need sign up. However, if you want to wait for it to land on your Garmin watch, you’ll need to wait a couple of months.
