Vice President Kamala Harris will speak on gun control policy during a moderated conversation with rapper Quavious Keyate Marshall, known in the music world as Quavo, at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The rapper is hosting a gun violence summit in memory of his nephew Takeoff, who was accidentally shot and killed in Houston nearly two years ago. Takeoff’s 30th birthday would have been Tuesday.

Harris’s remarks on gun violence at the inaugural Rocket Foundation Summit build on the Biden-Harris initiative to expand gun control legislation. Last week, President Joe Biden touted his signature gun control legislation during a speech at an Everytown for Gun Safety event. After praising the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which expanded background checks and red flag laws, Biden said more action is needed. “We are not finished,” the president said.
