MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged after allegedly striking a victim with a vehicle on purpose in Morgantown.

Early in the morning on May 14, officers with the Morgantown Police Department were dispatched to a reported dispute at a residence on White Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who said that William Thomas, 45, of Morgantown, “tried to run her off the road, causing damage to the vehicle,” the complaint said.

Officers said there was “severe damage” to the vehicle the victim had been driving during the collision.

Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of the incident which showed Thomas exit the Jeep that hit the victim around the time that the collision occurred, according to the complaint.

Thomas has been charged with malicious assault. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
