FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Tygart Valley United Way is already preparing for back-to-school season by kicking off its 5th annual United for Kids Hygiene Collection Drive.

Hygiene and other personal care items can be dropped off until Aug. 9 at both the Tygart Valley United Way main and regional offices in their 24-hour collection boxes. Items will then be distributed to all 50 schools in Marion, Randolph, Taylor, Barbour and Tucker counties.

Those wishing to donate can also find needed products online by using the Amazon Wishlist setup for the program, which includes items like Chapstick, toothpaste, dry shampoo, combs, snacks and soap.

“Not all students have necessary hygiene or personal items available at home, so we need your help to make sure they stay healthy, happy, and ready to learn,” the Tygart Valley United Way said in a press release.

“The burden of stocking the hygiene pantries at schools often fall to the teachers. This drive is intended to help ease that burden and stock up the pantries for the start of the fall semester,” the release said.

More information on the program and drop-off locations can be found here.
