Website Planet had the opportunity to interview Ariel Chew, the Founder of Bike Bear. In this interview, we covered the evolution of the company, what is unique for the company, and what are the plans for the near future.
What is Bike Bear?
As we say to all our clients, Bike Bear is a “beary” creative agency for hoomans.
Please describe the story behind the company: What sparked the idea, and how has it evolved so far?
We first set up shop back in 2013 after getting a $29 logo off Graphic River. Fun fact – none of us were professionally trained designers or developers!
But what we wanted to do was to bring our experience in branding and advertising into the world of web design.
Websites are such a huge asset because it’s really the ideal platform to express and communicate any business or brand to their customers but most websites out there are not being used to their true potential.
As most web developers and designers are typically not trained in the art of branding and marketing, we felt this was a huge area for us to solve particularly in this part of the world.
To see brands butchering their branding pains us so much that we felt compelled to do something about it and make a difference. So we took matters into our bear hands. This is how and why Bike Bear was born.
What services do you offer?
Our core business has been web design and development, SEO, social media, and branding. However, we are looking to expand our experience into web 3.0 services as well as AR/VR technologies in our work.
Who are your typical customers, and what do you think is the main challenge that your product solves for them?
Our clients come in all shapes and sizes, from a variety of industries and different stages in business.
We believe the biggest obstacle that we are all facing is the fact that the attention span of our customers is shortening and it’s hard to express fully our business or brand through our websites.
Our goal is to help them get there by not only creating just another simple website but a website that their customers can connect with and feel every essence of their brand as well.
What separates you from other similar websites/companies?
Yeah, there are so many amazing web design companies and agencies around the world and a lot of them have really inspired me to keep getting better.
In a world where 7 billion people are vying for attention – doing the same thing, hogging the same digital platforms – I believe it has become a necessity for us to be creative, stand out, and be expressive.
Have you seen a bear ride a bike? Probably not but it did catch your attention.
Hence our brand name, we want to create curiosity, we want to make people look and be engaged on our websites.
A client once told us that the art of storytelling through websites is lost as everyone has their attention set on the latest and greatest social media craze. We’re here to stay and hopefully continue the craft of creating amazing websites.
What are the plans for the company for the near future?
Our goal and focus have always been our people, or in our case, our bears.
We have a vision to create the most amazing work culture out there – where we allow creative talent from around the world the space and opportunity to do what they are truly passionate about.
Our bears are truly our biggest assets and if we don’t allow creatives to do what they do, we will end up with the same generic work as everybody else.
This is perhaps the biggest part of our plans and a key area for the company’s growth in the near future.
