Shianna Gibbons joined the WKBN-27 First News team in December 2023 as a multi-media journalist.
Born and raised in Youngstown, Shianna graduated from Liberty High School in 2020 before attending Youngstown State University with a double major in journalism and philosophy. She will graduate from Youngstown State University with Honors in May 2024.
Before joining the WKBN team, Shianna was heavily involved with Youngstown State University’s student media, The Jambar. Shianna started as a multimedia journalist and anchor in the fall of 2022 before becoming executive producer of JambarTV and editor-in-chief. She also was a newsroom intern for The Business Journal during the summer of 2023.
Shianna won the Drs. Robert R. and Mary Virginia Hare Writing Award for Distinction in Journalistic Writing in the spring of 2023.
Outside the newsroom, Shianna enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, and creating small crafts.
Shianna looks forward to serving the community she knows and loves.
