KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Fans continued to show their support for Tennessee baseball at the best-of-three Men’s College World Series Finals this weekend. The Volunteers rallied to secure a win in Game 2 and force a winner-take-all game on Monday.

At the Big Orange Watch Party, fans waited anxiously to see if Tennessee would make it to game three.

“I think everybody just felt that we needed to go to another game so the Vols can hopefully pull it out,” said UT fan Tyler Kress. “Last night was scary and worrisome and so I’m so happy for them, and they just got the right energy, I just feel it, the Vols are due.”

After winning the second game, fans are hopeful the team will take it all the way.

“It’s going to happen, I can feel it, if its not this year its very soon,” said Partick Obernesser.

For one fan, the joy of watching UT baseball is more than the game itself.

“Not only has it gotten me closer to my friends you know coming out to this watch party being able to have a good time with them, but it’s also just giving me a new love for a sport that I never really liked as much and I was a kid,” said UT student Sean Keenan.

He said so far, watching the Vols has been a bumpy road. Just before the end of the second game he was unsure if they would get another one.

“Hopefully these aren’t the last inning that I see you know Christian Moore and the other at bat. I just – for the sake of the team I just really hope we can force that game three,” said Keenan.

However, win or lose, UT fans will be proud of their team.

“At the end of the day, like, I could not go do that,” said Obernesser. “I think it’s really, really easy to sit on the couch and yell at balls and strikes all day, but these guys are going out and putting their blood sweat and tears in that, and if they’re going out with that mentality of, ‘I’m going to give it my all,’ I’m not going to sit there and take anything away from them. I mean, that’s something Tony’s been telling them, I feel like that’s a lot of the culture that’s been instilled in the program, so it’s definitely something to be proud of even as a fan.”

“They’ve already made history. it’s a great time to be a Tennessee Vol,” said Kress.
