The guys over at Witrigs wanted to see how the Sony Xperia XZ’s camera lens would fare when subject to various everyday items such as coins and keys. The rationale being that these can often be found in the same pocket as your phone. Well judging by the video, it is good to see the camera glass holding up very well.
The only point when it gets slightly marked was when prodding very heard with some tweezers – prior to this it had also been subjected to a screwdriver and scissors. The ring housing around the lens did get scratched though, which is what you would expect with metal rubbing against metal.
The cover on the triple imaging sensor also held up well, but was not as durable at the extreme end of testing. It was particularly susceptible to the tweezers, being scratched quite easily. You can check out the full video below.
