On September 9th, a big event began at PortAventura World, where we closed 3 hotels exclusively so that, for 3 days, 850 people from 37 countries could gather and enjoy both training and celebration, all in a sustainable and innovative way. It is incredible what we can achieve in only 2.5 months of planning when we are aligned with our client. It was a complete pleasure to work with Atolls, teamwork was evident and the extra hours were enjoyed to the fullest!! Looking forward to working again with you. ¡Hola a todos! Estamos orgullosos de anunciar que somos #finalistas de la XV edición de los Premios Corresponsables. Estos prestigiosos premios reconocen y premian a las mejores iniciativas y prácticas sostenibles, por lo que formar parte de las empresas nominadas es todo un orgullo. De las más de 1000 candidaturas, nuestro evento "Let's rock a GREEN XMAS dinner!" para PepsiCo ha sido uno de los 98 proyectos finalistas de esta edición. We recently finished a 4-day event for 850 participants from over 37 nationalities in Barcelona: GSG Fest. Not only are we proud of how well it went and how happy our client was, but also we are extremely proud to have had the best quality event with minimal impact. You can see here the recap of the event: https://lnkd.in/eUur59QA In this post, we want to show what our sustainable initiatives were, to prove that sustainability and excellence go hand in hand, and even large-scale events can be sustainable: Sustainability Highlights of Our Event: 1) Transportation: To minimize our carbon footprint, we maximized the capacity of buses to reduce the number of trips required, effectively decreasing our CO2 emissions. 2) Encouraging Walking and drinking water: Guests were encouraged to walk between locations such as from the Caribe to the Convention Center and from Colorado to Farwest, promoting health and reducing environmental impact. Water fountains were placed at the venue and park. 3) Sustainable Materials: All name badges were made from sustainable paper, and printing was limited to only those attendees on site, significantly reducing waste. 4) Construction and Waste: We made a conscious decision to avoid any new construction or destruction for the event setup. This included, for example, not laying down carpets on stage to minimize waste and use lighting effects to decor the meeting rooms. 5) Local and Seasonal Food: All food was sourced from local vendors, ensuring it was seasonal and served using sustainable materials, which supports local economies and reduces transportation emissions. 6) Elimination of Single-Use Plastics: We successfully eliminated the use of single-use plastics, enhancing our commitment to protecting the environment. Even hotel room keys were made of bamboo. 7) Reduced Merchandising: By choosing not to distribute promotional merchandise, we avoided unnecessary production and waste, aligning with our sustainability goals. 8) Inclusive Hiring Practices: We prioritized hiring local staff and promoting gender equality, supporting community development and ensuring fair opportunities. 9) Certified Sustainable Practices: Both the venue, Port Aventura, and our events agency hold BIOSPHERE certifications, underscoring our dedication to responsible practices that respect both people and the planet. 10) Renewable Energy: The energy utilized during our event was sourced from renewable options, further reducing our environmental impact. 11) Carbon Offset: Despite our efforts to reduce travel emissions, the necessary travel still contributed to CO2 emissions. To counteract this, we have compensated for 20 tonnes of CO2 by supporting a hydroelectric project in Indonesia. It is easier than it seems to understand how sustainability ELEVATES events.
