Non-profit Organizations
We're a global movement of people fighting for women’s rights, climate justice, economic justice, and an end to poverty.
About us
Founded in 1972, ActionAid has been fighting poverty worldwide for over 30 years. In 2013, ActionAid's work reached 15 million people in Africa, Asia and Latin America. At ActionAid we take advantage of over 30 years of knowledge and experience in fighting poverty. We don't impose solutions, but work with communities over many years to strengthen their own efforts to throw off poverty. With more than 2,000 partners worldwide, we work with and support the poorest and most vulnerable people to secure their rights to food, shelter, work, basic healthcare and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

Ahead of her testimony at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) climate change hearing today, ActionAid Vanuatu's Flora Vano said: "World leaders hear our plea. This isn't fiction; it's our daily reality. Stop fossil fuel extraction and take responsibility for the pollution. We need rich polluting countries to fund our adaptation, mitigation, and recovery with grants, not loans. This will allow us to rebuild and thrive, for the sake of our children and their children." 🚨 More than 1.6 million people across Gaza and Lebanon face a wet and freezing winter without proper shelter. “Tents are made of fabrics and blankets that are not resistant to the rain. The severe overcrowding in the temporary shelters does not allow for water to drain. The tents will certainly be flooded because there is no infrastructure in these camps to drain the rain water. Most of what the organisations can provide – unfortunately – is below the minimum needs of the people because the ongoing siege on the Gaza Strip is preventing materials from entering the Palestinian markets, and aid from reaching the people,” - Sahar, head of the Palestinian Development Women Studies Association, ActionAid’s partner in Gaza. We are calling for a permanent ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza, as well as the entry of essential aid into Gaza to help people survive the winter. https://lnkd.in/d8t4H5Gg

🚨The Lebanon 60-day ceasefire deal is not an acceptable long-term solution. "Are people in Lebanon now to live in limbo until bombs start dropping on their homes again? A permanent ceasefire is the only way to end the suffering and enable people in Lebanon to rebuild their lives," - Paras Tamang, our Global Humanitarian Director.
