Pathways out of poverty for Youth
About us
African Impact Foundation equips young people with education and skills to move out of poverty. Our holistic approach gives young people the best chance of real, long-term change to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their community. Our programs focus on 4 pillars which contribute to a brighter future: Gender Equality, Education, Wellness, and Livelihoods Each location has it’s own challenges and opportunities for pathways out of poverty. With our local teams, community committees and expert advisors, we design programs to overcome the hurdles for young people locally.

Have you heard how a workshop is changing gender equality in Zambia? Our LETS Workshops are at the forefront of this transformation. These sessions equip individuals with vital knowledge on sexual and reproductive health, empowering them to make informed decisions. By educating both men and women, we're fostering a community where equality thrives. Your support enables us to continue these important conversations, driving positive change across generations. Thank you for helping us build a more equitable Zambia.

Shockingly, over one million girls in Zambia have limited access to sanitary pads, which causes them to miss up to 40 days of school each year.* Our Menstrual Hygiene Workshops are changing lives in Zambia, tackling period poverty head-on. By educating girls on menstrual health and providing essential supplies, we're ensuring that fewer girls miss school during their periods, thus keeping them on track with their education. This not only fosters gender equality but also empowers a new generation of women with the knowledge and confidence to thrive. Together, we're breaking barriers and building futures. Thank you for supporting this vital cause. *Source: UNICEF, 2017

Can conversations change the world? 🗣️ We think so! One way we're tackling gender inequality in Zambia is through conversation. Our Youth Insaka workshops create a safe space for youth to have healthy conversations about topics that matter to them most, including gender equality. Throughout the term, we cover topics like combating gender stereotypes, sexual exploitation, self-confidence and lots more!

For girls in Zambia, education changes everything. According to a 2019 UNICEF report, only 27% of girls complete upper secondary school, and among the poorest, just 3%. Education is key to unlocking their full potential, breaking the cycle of poverty, and enabling them to support their families. Through initiatives like the Sponsor A Child programme, LETS workshops, Youth Insaka, and The Girl Impact project, we're dedicated to changing these statistics and helping more girls complete their education. THANK YOU for supporting our work to make educating girls in Zambia possible!

We're getting ready for our next Menstrual Hygiene Workshops! Part of our preparations includes packing gift bags of reusable menstrual pads and underwear to give to our students. Little things like these make a profound difference, enabling more girls to stay in school during their periods because they finally have access to menstrual products. Shout out to Wastemat Zambia Limited for donating reusable sanitary pads for our upcoming workshops!
