The first solution to the problem is an honest assessment. Since the Security Risk Assessment is a new and original concept in South Africa, its actual value and benefits are not understood and are often overlooked. Crime in South Africa is evil. EVIL IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CREATURE. Those who are evil believe bad is OK. Their actions, in their minds, are justified, no matter how violent. Security Risk Assessment has also been referred to as Security Audits, Asset Protection, Security Inspections, Threat Analysis, Security Surveys and Vulnerabilities Assessment but to name a few. This has furthermore allowed for misinterpretations of the concept to occur quickly. A Security Risk Assessment is that extra mile that you go to find out what your risks are. A Security Risk Assessment is much like a spare wheel for your vehicle; you never think of it until you need it. Security Risk Assessment is neither a Risk Management report nor a Health and Safety report. There is a vast difference between Risk Management and a Security Risk Assessment. Security Risk Assessment is simple: Risk is where a threat and an opportunity overlap. Risk assessment is not a witch-hunt. It’s a hunt to find the truth—nothing more, nothing less. A Security Risk Assessment is also the foundation for your security. Furthermore, it tells you when security stops and when safety should start. Sadly, not everyone understands the difference between security and safety.
