Bioeconomy SA is a national initiative to promote and harness bio-innovation for economic growth and social development. It is informed by the National Bioeconomy Strategy, underpinned by advanced science and indigenous knowledge and focuses on agricultural, healthcare, industrial and environmental applications. It is coordinated by the Department of Science and Technology and powered by a wide range of public-private partnerships and investments.
The Bioeconomy SA Portal, is a web-based platform that collects information from different sources and integrates it into a single, uniform and secure user interface. This portal is here to improve access to and the exchange of information among all bio-innovation stakeholders to stimulate communication, improve cohesion and promote functional integration and collaboration. Data design and quality management, as well as powerful analytical and reporting capabilities to insure customised value propositions to all stakeholders.
