Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs, Nonkqubela Pieters, MEC for Rural Development and Agrarian Reform, Nonceba Kontsiwe, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Babalwa Lobishe, and Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Development, Tourism, and Agriculture (EDTA), Cllr Bassie Kamana, attended a dinner this evening at the Bluewater Bay Sunrise Hotel in honor of a visiting delegation from Jilin Province. This event, organized by the Office of the Premier, welcomed distinguished guests including Gao Guangbin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jilin Provincial People’s Congress, and Jiang Yanhui, Chairman of the Ethnic, Foreign, and Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the Jilin Provincial People’s Congress, among other delegates. “This year celebrates 25 years of strong bilateral relations with the People’s Republic of China. Throughout this time, our countries have enjoyed mutually beneficial political and economic connections. Our partnership includes the FAW production facility, established in 2014 with support from the Africa-China Development initiative. FAW, a key player in the Coega SEZ, has expanded its local operations and now serves both the domestic market and exports to other African countries. As the NMBM, we are committed to doing our part to strengthen the bond between our two sister cities,” stated Mayor Lobishe. The purpose of this welcoming dinner is to strengthen the relationship between China and South Africa and explore additional areas for Chinese investment.
