PARIS MOTOR SHOW 🚨 First close-up look at Renault's Emblème concept car. 👇 Renault Group's CEO, Luca de Meo, set the engineers at Renault a task: to make a car with a cradle to grave carbon footprint of 0 tonnes of CO2. They failed... They only managed to get it down to 5 tonnes of CO2. But that's not to be sniffed at - that is an enormous *90%* saving vs the 50 tonnes of emissions for the average European car today. Here's what we know so far: • The drivetrain combines battery electric EV with hydrogen, • The 40kW battery is useful for daily commuting and normal usage around town, • Then you want to go for a long distance journey, you can fill up ( in just a couple of minutes) with 2.8kg of hydrogen, which gives you an extra 350km of range, • Up to 1,000km of total range, • No release date indication yet, • The only emission is water. Hydrogen trucks: Nestlé Purina North America deploys low-carbon-pawprint Nikola Corporation truck in California 🚛🐾 Nestlé Purina Petcare has introduced its first hydrogen fuel cell electric semi-truck, purring down the highway in California with a cargo of Tidy Cats litter. In collaboration with Nikola Corporation and the Kenan Advantage Group (KAG), Purina’s shiny new zero-emission truck is now making deliveries between Stockton, Maricopa, and Modesto. Nestlé Purina North America is putting hydrogen to the test as part of a wider plan to cut its carbon pawprint. Nikola Corporation’s hydrogen-powered truck can cover up to 500 miles with a quick refuel, with each truck cutting CO2 emissions by 97 metric tons a year - that’s the equivalent of taking 23 passenger cars off the road. Purina are seeing whether hydrogen has legs when it comes to scaling across their logistics operations. Travis Krous, Purina’s senior director of Supply Chain Operations, said: “This truck represents an exciting opportunity to test new technology and determine if it’s feasible to scale.” Nestlé Purina North America has always kept sustainability at the forefront, minimising long-haul transport by focusing on regional production. But now with hydrogen-powered trucks in the mix, the company is ready to explore the next level of green logistics. Kenan Advantage Group, Purina’s logistics partner, is aligned on this push toward cleaner operations.
