The Annual Research Days are in full swing! With the theme “Harnessing the Power of Interdisciplinary Research for Health and Innovation," Day 1 kicked off with workshops on essential skills—media engagement, social media for science communication, AI in research, and managing grants funded projects. We’re excited for Day 2, filled with insightful presentations from our researchers. Here's to personal development , innovation, and progress! Always a pleasure visiting the BMRI building! Today marked the start of an exciting three-day CERI conference. The agenda is packed with diverse sessions, ranging from media engagement and personal branding, AI in research, to practical training on crafting winning grant proposals. We also got training on the value of social media. It’s fantastic to see everyone in good spirits after such a challenging year. Meet Dr. Bianca Sansom, PhD, LLB, CEO and Laboratory Director at Geneway Lab in South Africa. Dr. Sansom is dedicated to advancing diagnostic testing and improving healthcare outcomes. As one of the fellows in the Roche-CERI KAPA DNA Library Preparation Training, Dr. Sansom is exploring how to integrate Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows into her laboratory. Roche KAPA DNA Library Preparation Training in Genetics and Oncology Over the past two days, 10 fellows from across Africa gained both theoretical and hands-on experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) DNA library preparation using the KAPA EvoPlus Kit V2. This training, focused on genetics and oncology applications, equipped participants with the skills to drive precision medicine and transform healthcare across the continent. Our large capacity building fellowship program was one of the highlights today at the #COP29 WHO Health Pavilion. 548 Fellows from 48 African countries receiving advanced training in genomics surveillance and epidemic response.
