It’s great to see the positive energy around the Proudly Poultry II initiative! We’re thrilled to congratulate Anshel Sinkala on taking on the role of a Proudly Poultry trainer in Zambia! 🎉 At Deltamune, we are proud to be a part of the Proudly Poultry II initiative and to support the empowerment of smallholder poultry farmers. We're excited to see the positive impact this new, more interactive training format will have on the farmers, enabling them to make informed decisions for their businesses. We are proud to partner with Urban Farmer/U-MIX, and Phatisa, and look forward to seeing the continued success of the program in driving success and growth in Africa's poultry sector. Together, we’re making a real difference in enabling sustainable food production for all people! #ProudlyPoultry #EmpoweringFarmers #PoultryTraining #SustainableAgriculture #FoodSecurity
I am thrilled to be taking on a new role as a Proudly Poultry trainer in Zambia. We are a team of four trainers who are tasked with training smallholder poultry farmers in Zambia with the intention to empower these farmers to make informed decisions in running their poultry businesses. Proudly Poultry II is the second phase of the Proudly Poultry campaign. During the first campaign, trainings took the form of one full-day seminar across many regions in Africa. In Proudly Poultry II we are striving to improve impact through a 6-week poultry course and limiting our attendance to 18 farmers. This allows for more interaction between farmers and trainers, while improving on the practical elements of the training. We are grateful to the partners in the project U-MIX, Urban Farmer Pty Ltd, Deltamune , and Phatisa who have made this opportunity available to Zambian farmers. #SmallholderFarming #PoultryFarming #MakeYourOwnFeed #Training

Very informative! This is an important reminder for all in the industry, that stocking density guidelines play a key role in ensuring sustainable farming practices. Preventative measures are the most reliable and effective long-term defence against disease outbreaks. Let’s work towards a future where every farm thrives, every flock is protected, and food security is within reach for all people.

Why Overstocking Is A Challenge In Broiler Farming Overstocking in broiler farming can significantly impact bird health, farm performance, and profitability. Here are five reasons why maintaining optimal stocking density is crucial: 1. Disease Spread: Closely packed birds are more vulnerable to the rapid spread of diseases. Aggression and injuries, such as pecking and fighting, can result in open wounds, further contributing to disease transmission. 2. Poor Air Quality: Overstocking leads to high levels of ammonia and dust, causing respiratory issues among the flock. 3. Heat Stress: High stocking density increases the likelihood of heat stress, reducing feed intake and potentially increasing mortality rates. 4. Wet Litter: Overstocking worsens litter conditions, creating breeding grounds for harmful bacteria and other pathogens. 5. Reduced Welfare and Productivity: Overcrowding limits movement, increases stress, and impacts overall bird growth and farm profitability. In Uganda, the recommended stocking density is 1ft² per broiler. #ProudlyPoultryII Urban Farmer Pty Ltd Phatisa U-MIX Deltamune Michelle Marais
