Fox Browne Creative was founded by Debra Fox and Christopher Browne in 2009.
Debra and Chris met while working at andBeyond (formerly CC Africa), where Debra served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chris as the Creative Director. After seventeen years with andBeyond, they launched Fox Browne Creative to develop bespoke luxury properties in Africa and around the world, leveraging their unique skills in design and hospitality.
Together with their skilled team, they offer comprehensive direction and assistance for developing luxury lodges, lifestyle retail outlets, remote private homes, and boutique hotels. Their in-house team provides architectural design, interior design, hospitality training, and operational services, from concept development to the final delivery of the guest experience.

Designed in partnership with Jack Alexander, we’re fortunate to have Elsa Young visit the lodge in the middle of our installation to give you a sneak peek at what we’re working on. The tents still embrace their iconic “under canvas” charm, but we gave them a fresh update to introduce a contemporary edge. Safari chic and Shangaan-inspired craftsmanship keep the interiors warm and earthy. Natural stone textures, interesting shapes, soft terracotta clay, and mid-century-inspired stained glass details add playfulness and light. The addition of an outdoor sala provides ample lounging space for each tent. The reimagined &Beyond Ngala Tented Camp opened its doors last month after an intense six-month rebuild. What a journey it’s been—from concept to construction, site visits to the final installation. Our brief was to preserve the camp’s tented charm while introducing fresh, contemporary elements to the tents, alongside a complete rebuild of the guest areas and a refresh of the guest experience. The bandas at &Beyond Mnemba Island are still all about barefoot luxury. Nick and his team worked their magic to ensure each one feels as if it unfurls like a nautilus shell. We kept the interiors simple, sophisticated, and inspired by Swahili craftsmanship, with natural textures, laid-back details, and a touch of faded coral. Most of the Zanzibari furniture from the old lodge has been repurposed, with a few delicate pieces of bone inlay cabinetry from India added as a nod to the centuries-old trade winds history.
