We are pleased to announce that our world-class industrial facility in Cornubia has been awarded a prestigious 4-star Green Star rating in a joint venture with Redefine Properties. This accreditation reflects our ongoing commitment to prioritise environmentally responsible practices and sustainable development. We are incredibly proud of this milestone and hope to set the benchmark for excellence in green building practices within our industry for future developments.
We are continuing to drive the green building movement in South Africa. Our hi-tech Hirt & Carter industrial facility in Cornubia, KwaZulu-Natal, now proudly holds a 4-Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA), reflecting our deep commitment to integrating sustainability with industrial real estate and environmental stewardship. Developed by Redefine Properties and completed during October 2019, Hirt & Carter was actively involved in selecting the attributes incorporated into the design of this 47 718m2 build. This has culminated in a world class printing and labelling production facility which, in future, can be converted to serve logistics and distribution needs. Securing such a distinction in the industrial sector speaks volumes about our efforts to push environmental standards, aligning closely with our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy and our drive for responsible, sustainable business practices. Ursula Mpakanyane, Redefine's Head of ESG, comments, “Earning this 4-star rating highlights our proactive sustainability ethos and our ambition to weave eco-conscious practices throughout our operations, setting new industry precedents.” The latest award from the GBCSA takes the number of active Green Star rated buildings, which have become highly sought after by tenants and brokers, across the entirety of Redefine’s SA portfolio to an impressive 186, with 27 active certifications in our industrial portfolio. This recognition not only reinforces our dedication to green development but also shifts perceptions of industrial properties, showcasing their capacity for both operational efficiency and environmental harmony. The Green Star rating acknowledges our strides in sustainability, establishing Redefine as a benchmark for the industry. #RedefineProperties #Sustainability #GreenStarRating #IndustrialProperty #ESGFocus #GBCSA
