We are proud to present our 2023 Annual Report, 📌𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀 - 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. The world has lost its trust in "experts". The answer? Redefine what makes "an expert" by turning to the true reservoirs of knowledge—our communities. By committing to listening more intently, engaging more deeply, and acting more decisively, we can build a future where trust is restored and communities are at the heart of every solution. In 2023–2024, our partners in Kyrgyzstan and Belarus conducted an in-depth community-led assessment of access to viral load and drug resistance testing. 🔹 95% of PLHIV in both countries underwent viral load testing last year, but disparities in awareness persist. 🔹 Only one drug resistance test is registered in Belarus, while Kyrgyzstan lacks a clear protocol for testing. 🔹 Both countries are transitioning to dolutegravir-based regimens, potentially reducing demand for drug resistance testing. Key recommendations include: ✔ Comprehensive evaluations of patient awareness ✔ Training healthcare workers to effectively communicate test results ✔ NGO-led initiatives to improve community knowledge about ART effectiveness & drug resistance Read the full report here https://lnkd.in/dWi88fd8 #HIVTesting #GlobalHealth #EndHIV #HealthEquity

Last October, a diverse stakeholder group from around the world convened at Sandton City to delve into the concept of Community-Led Monitoring (CLM). Our discussions revolved around the outcomes and impacts of implementing CLM, exploring its historical roots, strategic implications, and practical advantages while reflecting on our collective journey. Valuable insights from various stakeholders, including implementers, funders, donors, social impact investors, government, academia and private sector shed light on the evolving landscape of CLM. 🔎 Key Learnings: - CLM's applicability extends beyond the health sector. - Collaborative efforts across multiple sectors are crucial for advancing CLM establishment. - Embracing opportunities within challenges is the way forward. I'm excited to share the ITPC Community-Led Monitoring Summit Report, capturing the essence of our conversations and the shared vision for progress in this domain. Read more for invaluable insights and key takeaways from the summit! Thank you to everyone who contributed to this summit! 👏 #TogetherWeAreBetter #CommunityMonitoring #ITPC #SummitReport #HealthImpact #CLM #CommunityEngagement #SustainableDevelopmentGoals #SDGs #SocialImpact

🌍💊 In Episode 3 of the Make Medicines Affordable podcast, we dive into the fight for access to life-saving medicines, focusing on lenacapavir (LEN), a groundbreaking HIV prevention method. Our guests, Dr. Andrew Hill and Lorena Di Giano, unpack how patents and voluntary licenses (VLs) shape access to affordable medicines, especially in low- and middle-income countries. They also explore the challenges created by VL exclusions and discuss how we can ensure life-saving treatments like LEN are accessible to everyone, everywhere. 🎧 Don’t miss this critical conversation about health equity and justice. https://lnkd.in/dzjxK9Kg

“The Citizen Science Life Maps (CS-LM) project is a key component implemented by ITPC and funded by Bill and Melinda Gates in 2022. This project uses a unique form of citizen journalism that documents the perspectives and priorities of people living with or at risk of HIV and Aids. Specifically, citizen journalism is an innovative data collection technique that involves Recipients of Care (ROC) documenting their everyday life experiences with HIV and Aids. This project uses qualitative approaches such as photographs, videos and textual narratives to document real-life experiences of ROCs through a community lens, focusing on their experiences with access to HIV treatment and care, as well as other lifestyle factors that impact their access to healthcare services.” - Khokhelwa Zokwana, Life Maps Officer, ITPC. These smiles from our Malawi participants as they received their certificates on December 2, 2024, show the joy of accomplishment mixed with the sadness of farewell. Thank you to everyone who made this project a success!
