KCC Recruitment reposted this
I've worked in recruitment for nearly a decade now and one thing that I still struggle to get my head around is Contingency Recruitment. Last year I had quite a number of conversations with clients who wanted support with a role, but they were planning on engaging 3 other agencies alongside myself, surely that is counterproductive for all parties!? To me, Contingency recruitment is the equivalent of commissioning four architects to design your dream home, but only paying for the one you decide to live in. The other three invest their time, resources, and expertise, yet walk away with nothing. Or ordering the same dish from four different restaurants but only paying for the one you like best. The other chefs still had to buy ingredients, spend time cooking, and prepare the meal, yet they receive nothing in return. The best way of working is and always will be to find a suitable partner and work exclusively with them. I've always wondered, does this happen in other industries too or is it just recruitment?
