From Adversity to Empowerment: Millicent's Journey Through Caregiver Learning Through Play (CLTP) Training There is transformative power of caregiver training- meet Millicent, a dedicated caregiver from Atlantis, whose journey inspires us all. Growing up in a single-parent household with five siblings, Millicent's mother prioritized education, often sacrificing resources for toys and play. Millicent's dreams of becoming a lawyer were put on hold when she fell pregnant in her 4th year. This was followed by depression and lost ambition. While walking with her daughter, Millicent encountered our Play Facilitators, who introduced her to play-based learning. This sparked a newfound passion for teaching young children. Millicent has since completed her Level 4 training, reigniting her dreams and equipping her with: ✔️ Confidence in teaching young children. ✔️ Understanding of play-based learning's cognitive benefits. ✔️ Enhanced emotional intelligence. ✔️ Stronger bonds with her children. Millicent's story highlights: ✔️ Our training’s potential to empower. ✔️ Play-based learning's transformative impact on children's development. ✔️ Importance of accessible resources for caregivers. For Every Child, Every Right On 20 November, we celebrate World Children’s Day—a day dedicated to promoting togetherness, raising awareness about children’s rights, and improving their welfare worldwide. This date is special: 📜 In 1959, the UN adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, 🤝 In 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child was established. 🎉 Since 1990, it marks the anniversary of both historic milestones. World Children’s Day reminds us that everyone—parents, teachers, healthcare workers, leaders, and children—can create positive change. Together, we can advocate for children's rights and build a better future for every child. Up now, a panel discussing collaboration with government departments at provincial levels. In some provinces, our network members have participated in provincial strategy sessions. Puleng says government officials should see Ntataise Network Members as assets in implementing their work and vice versa.
