Supporting groundbreaking research and conservation efforts.
About us
The Oppenheimer Family has a rich history and association with conservation work in South Africa, they have been supporters of biodiversity conservation and research in natural sciences and wildlife administration. These conservation efforts are inspired by the Oppenheimer Family’s passion for the preservation of South Africa’s natural heritage: Nicky and Strilli Oppenheimer have joined recipients of the World Wildlife Fund’s Lonmin Award for environmental conservation in 2007, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to conservation. Active research centers occur on four of their properties, Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, Telperion, Shangani Ranch, and Wakefield, with numerous research projects conducted on the properties annually. The Oppenheimer Family remains a dedicated custodian of South Africa’s unique urban ecological heritage.

They say necessity is the mother of all invention and these inspirational women standing alongside Duncan MacFadyen are a true testament to that. It was such an honor meeting Bogadi Letsile , Joanne Adero and Tariroyashe Marufu at Earthshot week. From pioneering novel carbon capture techniques, to sustainable fertilisers and even exploring the use of drones to tackle some of Africa’s most pressing challenges, their ingenuity and dedication are lighting the way for meaningful change across the continent.
