Finergreen congratulates its client EDF International on reaching financial close for the Oasis 1 Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) portfolio in collaboration with co-sponsor Mulilo, and equity partners Pele Green Energy and GIBB-Crede. The portfolio includes three projects awarded in the first round of South Africa’s Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP): - Oasis Mookodi (77 MW capacity with 308 MWh storage), - Oasis Aggeneis (77 MW capacity with 308 MWh storage), - Oasis Nieuwehoop (103 MW capacity with 412 MWh storage). Capital funding of 7 billion Rand (circa USD400 million) will be provided from the Standard Bank of South Africa and ABSA, to finance the portfolio. The Oasis projects are expected to be commissioned within 24 months and will operate under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement with South Africa’s public utility Eskom. Finergreen is proud to have advised EDF International throughout the process including bid support, PPA signing, and capital raising to support the consortium’s in strengthening the security of supply and stabilising the electrical grid in South Africa. Ziska, our rock, was born in Wynberg, Cape Town. She brought her extensive experience in Business Administration, Finance, and Asset Management from various sectors to Pele Green Energy in 2016 as the Head of Asset Management, a role she continues to excel in today. Her significant contributions include the successful management of the CPV solar plant over the years, demonstrating both her expertise and leadership. Ziska also spearheaded the recruitment of the company’s first site-based employees four years ago, building and leading a large, efficient team. Nicolene is from a town called Vereeniging. She joined Pele in 2018 straight out of varsity as part of the first ever internship programme at Pele and she was one of the two people who got a permanent position after the internship. With a background in Economics, Risk, and Investment Management Nicolene quickly advanced through the ranks, first as a Junior Analyst, then as an Analyst, and subsequently as an Associate in Project Finance. She currently holds the position of Senior Associate - Project Finance.
