Many companies focus solely on the cost of implementing new technology, but it's important to evaluate it based on four key economic parameters: development expense, unit cost, product performance, and cycle time impacts, and then convert these to profit figures. Any valuable tool will demonstrate favourable economics as long as you take into account the complete economic picture.

Innovation: The technical domain information is managed in PLM, where the product and processes are authored. This is also where collaboration between parties in the product development process takes place.
Transaction: The ERP domain can handle forecasting, planning, orders, logistics, inventory, finance, HR, procurement, etc.
Execution: in the manufacturing execution domain, MES/MOM is used to manage scheduling, mfg resources, coordinate and control the entire manufacturing process, quality control and non-conformance capturing, materials tracking and tracing.
End-to-end digitalization aims to assume ownership of data and manage data flows through a concept known as Closed-Loop Manufacturing.

Putting a price tag on time to develop products should not be based on development expense only. Development speed is not the objective, it is a means to an end; the objective is making a profit. After the product specifications, the Bill of Materials (BOM) is the company's most crucial document. But do you also struggle to define what exactly BOM management is? In short, a BOM is the compilation of a parts list, forming the heart of most manufacturing operations.
'BOM Management: An introduction' is a 5-minute read that helps to establish a baseline of the key elements involved in creating and managing a BOM.
Many companies have incompatible systems and associated problems because they purchased their manufacturing system first and then later purchased their engineering system without regard for compatibility. Regardless of the systems used, the BOM should be established and maintained by some common criteria.
One BOM data element criterion should be a single source of truth, that is, no data element is entered more than once. More than one BOM data entry is redundant.
The BOM includes design data, support documentation, manufacturing data, quality, packaging, and catalogue data. Each function responsible for this data should manage it on the BOM.
A multiplicity of BOMs contributes significantly to the gap between design engineering and other functional group
