Thank you for the excitement since we announced Simulon’s launch. As you might have guessed, there’s been a delay - but it’s for an exciting reason. While working towards the launch, something awesome happened. We hit a future milestone we’ve been working towards from the very beginning. Our vision has been to use our next-gen 3D/VFX tools as a foundation to create a platform that connects humans through creation. This brief delay gives us the chance to refine and deliver this vision to the world. Starting next month, we’ll begin offering early access to both our latest tools and this exciting new platform in batches on our Discord server. The Simulon focus system also simulates smooth transitions between focal points, known as rack focus. It’s really intuitive to use as you simply tap on the screen to set a focus region, and Simulon takes care of the rest. A follow up from the video I shared yesterday, the Simulon human integration does more than automate rotoscoping, it also emulates the focus shift as a human enters the frame at close proximity. We're excited to announce that Simulon will be available to everyone this November, and we can't wait to show you what we've been up to. Let's start with the heart of every story - humans. Integrating CG with dynamic humans, is notoriously hard. Without green screens, it typically involves hours of soul-crushing rotoscoping. Simulon automates this, with real-time, on-device previews so you can see the actual frame while shooting. The mask is then refined during cloud rendering. We've received a few questions about Simulon’s performance in outdoor environments. The effectiveness largely depends on the trackable features in the setting. Check out this video made by Aaron Sisto in the beta, where he placed assets far apart in a large open meadow. If you watch to the end, you’ll see that tracking quality holds up quite well. Please note that, as seen in this video, real-world occlusion support is currently limited. However, we're making significant improvements in this area over the next few weeks. Some scene reconstruction R&D at Simulon that produces more detailed meshes quickly and is able to exclude moving objects without explicit segmentation. This improves occlusion of real-world objects and provides better meshes for 3D creators. Coming to the beta soon. #vfx #3d #virtualproduction
