Celebrating Excellence at the 2024 Standard Bank Top Women Awards We are proud to be named finalists in three key categories at the 2024 Standard Bank Top Women Awards: Retail & E-Commerce, Diversity, and Skills & Youth Development, in which we were the winner of the Retail & E-Commerce category. This recognition is a testament to the strides we're making in advancing gender equity, diversity, and skills development. At the heart of our progress is our commitment to empowering women and creating inclusive opportunities. In South Africa, 50% of our workforce are women, and 45% of senior management positions are held by women. Through targeted programs and initiatives, we’re also supporting over 170 individuals with disabilities, developing leadership pathways, and providing bursaries to help emerging talent thrive. Over the past two years, we’ve trained over 4,700 women and awarded 148 bursaries, helping to pave the way for brighter futures. This recognition fuels our ongoing mission to build workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. The Household Hope Initiative transforms lives by offering more than just employment—it creates stability, independence, and hope for a brighter future. For many of our employees, unemployment has brought anxiety, isolation, and financial stress. Through this initiative, individuals are gaining employment and reclaiming control of their lives, supporting their families, and building a better future. As Wona, one of our employees, shares: "I HAVE INDEPENDENCE!! I actually changed as a person, and my life has progressed since I was living with my brothers, and we were all in the same house. Our Smollan Household Hope initiative is a purpose-driven program bringing employment opportunities to underprivileged communities across Pakistan, India, and South Africa. Since its inception, this initiative has empowered over 17,000 individuals, including more than 1,000 candidates stepping into their first formal job.
