Celebrate the power of collective action and women's leadership! ✊🏿✨ Albertina Carlota Simango is a street vendor who is now leading the fight for the rights of informal economy workers in Mozambique. Her story is a testament to the power of organizing and collective action. A vendor for over 30 years, she started humbly, hardly being able to cook and sell her food without being harassed by local authorities. But through organizing her fellow vendors and rising to a position of leadership, she managed to secure a market space and break the poverty cycle plaguing her family. #WomenLeadership #WomenEmpowerment #StreetVendors #LabourRights #WorkersRights

🎂This month, the Global Platform for the Right to the City celebrates its 10th anniversary! November 2024 marks a decade of this official global engagement struggle to advance the #RightToTheCity. We were thrilled to be able to celebrate in person this special moment with friends, allies and members at the 12th World Urban Forum (#WUF12), in Cairo! In that sense, the GPR2C support team convened a Networking Event highlighting the multi-scale and multi-actor partnerships needed to advance the #RightToTheCity for all. The event counted with participation of the new UN-Habitat Executive Director, Anacláudia Marinheiro Centeno Rossbach, the UCLG Secretary General, Emilia Saiz, the Brazilian Minister of Cities, Jader Barbalho Filho and the HIC’s Secretary General, Yolande Hendler. 🎉Also, #HabitatVillage booth hosted our informal celebration and toast with longtime allies and friends that were central for the Platform’s work throughout this decade. It was an important moment to remember our successful trajectory of advocacy and strengthen our collective action for the next years to come. Long-life for the GPR2C! 🧡Special thanks and acknowledgment to the GPR2C support team that has been animating the platform's work and engagement: Nelson Saule Júnior, Lorena Zárate Soneyra, Sophia Neitzert Torres, Kelly Komatsu Agopyan, Henrique Botelho Frota, Isabel Pascual! 📍Check more information on our anniversary celebration at: https://lnkd.in/dJTztm2i Habitat International Coalition, Instituto Pólis, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), Ministério das Cidades
