EXCITING NEWS FROM THOMAS MADIDMALO We are incredibly proud to share that Thomas Madidimalo, a Thandulwazi Academic Scholarship alumnus and 2023 St Stithians College, South Africa graduate, is making waves in his first year studying Mechatronics Engineering at UCT. Thomas and his team, SA2024-037, have been selected as finalists in the South Africa Grand Finals for the Engineering Without Borders 2023/2024 Engineering for People Design Challenge! Their project, the RHACC Fridge (Rice Husk Adiabatic Cooling Clay Fridge), tackles real-world challenges in rural Cambodia by offering a sustainable, electricity-free cooling solution. This innovative project highlights eco-regional innovation by repurposing agricultural waste, leveraging accessible materials, and considering environmental, social, and economic impacts. It's a brilliant example of how engineering can create meaningful change. Now, Team SA2024-037 needs our support.
