This year’s SANEA Awards honoured the game changers in the #EnergySector and celebrated their incredible innovation and leadership. We spoke to the winners about the influence of this milestone on their careers and futures. 🏆 LESEDI Project Excellence Award: Fulufhelo Makananise and Thabo Papo Answers from Fulufhelo Makananise "This is the second excellence award received on this particular project and therefore validates the hard work put into executing the project as well as the importance of this work during the energy transition. Personally, it validates the commitment invested in the project and reinforces my belief in pursuing excellence and further reminds me of my capacity to make a difference. Professionally, it enhances the credibility in the industry and opens up new opportunities for collaboration and leadership. It is a reminder that sacrifice, teamwork and innovation can lead to success, motivating me to advance my contributions even further within my field. The most significant part of the journey was the collaborative spirit with the power station personnel, from operators to engineers as well as power station management. The support received made the project a success. At times we would not be granted the units to do flexibility assessments, at other times, we got the units and encountered challenges with the units themselves, but in all these lessons were learnt and the next unit was better than the previous one in terms of planning and approach to the challenges. Our next steps involve more collaborations to expedite this work and more mentoring to transfer these skills. I hope to ensure that the award serves as a stepping stone rather than a destination. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to both SANEA and LESEDI for their commitment to excellence within the energy sector. SANEA’s dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration in the energy sector is commendable. A collective effort is required to make the energy transition possible and practical. May SANEA continue to provide a platform for these conversations. South Africa needs more of these leadership talks to shape the future of our country."

Honouring excellence! 🌟 The SANEA Awards shone a light on the #EnergyIndustry’s finest. We spoke with the winners about the impact of their achievements and what lies ahead. 🏆 Siemens Energy Youth Award: Thabo Mngomezulu 🏆 Winning the SANEA Youth Award, sponsored by Siemens Energy, profoundly impacts me both personally and professionally. Personally, it validates my efforts in biogas production and motivates me to continue advocating for clean sustainable energy solutions in rural areas like Fernie. Professionally, this recognition I am hoping will open doors to new opportunities, networks, and resources that can enhance my work and influence in the renewable energy sector. The most significant part of my journey has been overcoming challenges in establishing a biogas production plant in a rural setting. This experience has taught me resilience and the importance of community support. Moving forward, I plan to leverage this recognition to expand my biogas initiatives, collaborate with local organisations, and engage more youth and women in sustainable practices. I would like to express my gratitude to SANEA for their commitment to recognising young achievers. Their support is vital in inspiring the next generation of leaders in the energy sector
