Did You Know: Participants of Education Changemakers have gone on to create projects that improve access to education, enhance learning outcomes, and address community challenges? Take Kabelo Mahlobogwane for example: Kabelo has created The Marking App, a groundbreaking tool that alleviates the significant administrative burden on educators in South Africa and across Africa. It specifically addresses the time-consuming task of grading student assessments. Educators often spend excessive time marking, which detracts from their primary teaching responsibilities, especially in overcrowded classrooms and resource-scarce schools. The Marking App automates the grading of both online and handwritten assessments using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and artificial intelligence (AI), without requiring heavy technological equipment. By providing real-time feedback and enhancing efficiency, The Marking App reduces teacher workload, allowing more time for instruction and ultimately improving educational quality and learning outcomes.

Linamandla’s voice reminds us of the richness and strength of young creators and their role in shaping a better future for Africa.
