#picoftheday The Traxtion Training Centre, at the Rail Services Hub in Rosslyn, has an array of key rail related qualifications. Our flagship program, the Diesel Electric Fitter Apprenticeship program, prepares apprentices for the grueling trade tests at the end of the three years of training but also equips our students with practical skills that they can readily apply in the field. Manuel Dos Ramos is one of our qualified Technical Training Officers who has been entrusted with imparting knowledge to the next generation of artisans. In this pic, he is captured in action with the 2024 (first year) apprenticeship cohort who have just survived year one of their training. Five years ago, Traxtion was outsourcing its wheel repairs to third party suppliers. Today a small but formidable team of wheel experts, supported by the technical team at the Rail Services Hub, not only services our own wheels, but also the wheels of other operators on the African rail network. We have recently serviced wheels for Rovos Rail, and this has given the wheels another two years lifespan. Traxtion was present at the 2024 CCBC - Capital City Business Chamber (CCBC) Prestige Gala Dinner. Under the theme “The Capital City – Going Green”, the city of Tshwane launched the Going Green initiative which aims to lead the city towards being the greenest in the African Continent. As an inhabitant of the city, this initiative aligns with us because our commitment to moving freight volumes to rail will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions. Also, in 2023 we too launched a Go Green campaign to grow an environmentally friendly culture in the business. We believe that by creating green cities and businesses, we can leave a sustainable legacy for the next generation. For at least 3 decades, the world has united to end violence against Women and Children. The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, running annually from 25 November to 10 December, aims to raise awareness on the work done, and the work still needed to be done to ensure a safer, violent free world for all. Through unity, advocacy, and commitment we can help end gender-based violence. Women and Children who are abused lose their voice, at Traxtion we are speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves, and we take a stand: zero tolerance for any form of violence, no matter how “small” it seems. #throwbackto the 2024 RAILWAY SAFETY REGULATOR Conference that occurred from 29 September to 02 October 2024 at Hazendal, in Cape Town. Under the theme Rail Renaissance, the conference brought together key players in the rail industry - from South Africa and beyond, to exchange ideas and learnings on vital issues related to rail operations, rail safety and regulations, and rail in South Africa with the looming rail reform. Traxtion was present at the conference and used the opportunity to showcase how we have used capability and capacity to safely and reliable connect Africa.
