uMngeni-uThukela Water Unites for #WorldAIDSDay2024 This past week, uMngeni-uThukela Water launched its World AIDS Day commemorations across various regions. Events began on 26 November at Lahee Park, Pinetown, followed by a gathering on 28 November at the Eshowe Sports Ground then Albert Falls on the 29th of November 2024. Employees turned out in large numbers to participate in a program featuring impactful talks from health professionals, including a dietician, social worker, and psychologist to name but a few. The highlight of the event was when employees had the opportunity to light the candle of hope and sign a pledge to protect everyone’s health and uphold everyone’s rights. Environmental Management System (EMS) awareness was recently conducted at Hazelmere Water Works. The session aimed to equip employees with a fundamental understanding of EMS, highlighting its importance in enhancing the organization’s environmental performance. Key discussions focused on the role of every employee in ensuring the successful implementation of uMngeni-uThukela Water's EMS, fostering continual improvement, and achieving better environmental outcomes. Employees were also informed about Section 29 of NEMA, which empowers them to refuse work that may harm the environment.
