For example, in deep underground mines, temperatures can rise to extremely high levels due to the Earth's geothermal gradient. Miners often have to deal with temperatures that can exceed 50°C. 🔨Lucara achieved significant progress in the development of the Karowe Underground Project during Q3 2024: ➡️ Shaft sinking and shaft connection lateral development continued to advance in Q3. ➡️ The ventilation shaft is ahead of July 2023 rebase schedule. ➡️ By the end of Q3, the production shaft reached a depth of 686 metres below surface and the ventilation shaft reached 582 metres below surface. 🔗 Learn more about our progress in our latest Q3 2024 release: https://bit.ly/40L29Ws

We’ve been asked a couple of questions about how we do it and our priorities are as follows: - Driving a culture of SHEQ integration in all we do, accountability, ownership, and responsibility – own what you do. - Detailed, well entrenched, and externally certified Business Management System (SHEQ). - We set our projects up for success i.e. clear and practical governance requirements and associated resources. - Strong assurance function within the business – ongoing monitoring and measurement and implementation of remedial actions – continual improvement. In addition to the above-mentioned priorities, we also do all the “normal” stuff e.g. risk management approach, behaviour-based safety, training, participation, communication, operational control, etc.   It is however important to constantly maintain SHEQ awareness in the business and provide recognition where deserved. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, but it must be led from the top. Work Safe. No compromise
