We consult to organisations that want to grow their sales pipeline and improve conversion rates. We believe that sales is a journey of incremental steps to improvement and that the only way to improve your sales process is to continually look for ways to incrementally improve the things you do on a daily basis. At Valuebasedsales.com, we do not believe in quick-fix solutions that promise overnight success. We focus our efforts on creating a culture where employees iteratively make small improvements so that with each passing day, salespeople and the organisation at large, place customers and their needs at the centre of every decision they make. We do this by exposing sales and non-sales employees to key principles of customer centricity and how to sell value, and not just features. We expose employees to the techniques used by the best sales teams in the world. Our unique approach to driving exponential sales growth consists of 5 elements and these are: placing practice at the centre of learning; building strong sales coaching capability; teaching principles and not just content; exposing employees to people who have had first-hand experiences of implementing strong sales cultures within their organisations; and building communities of practice. Why does this approach work? In a nutshell we are successful at driving sales growth, not because of what we share, but because of how we share it. We don’t profess to have new sales secrets that cannot be accessed anywhere apart from us. We believe that sales is a science. It’s a process. It’s an Art. It’s all of these things but the best of the best sales teams are continually curious about how to improve.   • It's not just about the destination, the journey counts too! If the same could not ring any truer for measuring your sales efforts, how do you measure what is meaningful in sales? Many organisations, and particularly their sales leaders, measure the success of their sales efforts solely based on the amount of revenue they have generated or the number of units they have sold. Just measuring how much you have won or sold, and drawing conclusions based on this data is often too late because it’s in the past! Rather measure early indicators that allow you to gain a sense of what is working and what is not within your sales environment so that you can take action before it is too late. The trick to an effective sales process that guides your daily sales efforts is to establish the trends early on so that your decisions can be based on good intelligence rather than short-term and often emotive, experiences. Moreover, the better you become at measuring the journey and not just the outcome, the better and more accurate your forecasts become, thus building some level of certainty and confidence about whether or not you will reach or even exceed your targets.   • Why is it important to ask your clients for their business? How many of us shy away from asking our clients for their business? We do a great job of explaining the value that our product or service offers the client i.e. how they will benefit from it. We deliver great sales pitches. We tick the boxes for all the people in the decision-making unit be it the initiators, buyers, gatekeepers, users, influencers, or the ultimate decision-makers. Still, we never quite get to asking the client "Can I have your business?". Maybe we are concerned about appearing too desperate. We get so far down the sales funnel but sit with loads of qualified deals that just aren't "closing" [themselves] because we are waiting for the client to tell us that she/he wants to go ahead with our offering. What if a competitor showed more interest in winning the client's business and, by asking the client for their business, this got them over the line instead of you who is waiting patiently for the client to offer you his/her business?
